Publishing standards

A useful calculator must explain its own limits.

MW SysArc treats a calculator page as a small transparent model—not an answer box. These standards describe what should agree, what is tested and how visitors can challenge an error.

Core contract

What every mature calculator page should provide

Unique intent

The identifier, title and purpose must describe a distinct task. Renaming an existing relationship does not create a new calculator.

Formula agreement

The written formula, input definitions, units, default example, calculation code, outputs and worked steps must express the same relationship.

Domain validity

Inputs are checked for mathematical and practical restrictions such as zero denominators, invalid probabilities, impossible geometry and unsupported ranges.

Transparent steps

The result includes enough working to reproduce the substitution and understand any reported secondary outputs.

Three explanations

The intuitive, practical and formal levels preserve the same tool-specific concept while changing depth and assumed background.

Limitations

Terminology and cautions belong to the actual domain. Generic disclaimers cannot substitute for model-specific boundaries.

Readiness

Hard requirements, strong support and optional enrichment explain why prerequisite concepts matter and link to maintained repair pages.

Reusability

Where appropriate, executable examples reflect the current calculator values and are available in Python, C, C++, Linux x86-64 assembly, MATLAB and Wolfram syntax.

Evidence and integrity

Sources, citations and correction

Supporting academic or official references explain the subject. “Cite this page” metadata identifies the MW SysArc page itself. The two are deliberately separated so a visitor never mistakes a publisher citation for independent evidence.

Page citations use canonical metadata and MW SysArc as organizational author unless a real named author is recorded. Dates and DOI values are never invented. Material changes should update the documented review date.

Report a suspected error: email [email protected] with the canonical page URL, input values, observed output and the result you expected. A reproducible example is more useful than a screenshot alone.

Privacy and independence

The calculation comes before monetization

Ordinary calculator values are processed locally in the browser and should not be transmitted to advertising systems. Advertising, sponsorship or business services must not change a formula, suppress a limitation or require payment for the core calculation.

Ads must remain separate from buttons, navigation, downloads, node handles and other interactive controls. Empty, unfinished, login, checkout, application and legal-only pages are not advertising inventory.

Medical, financial, legal, engineering and other high-stakes tools support education and planning; they do not replace primary standards, measured evidence or qualified professional judgment.
